You will always remind me of Tunis, one of the very first places you went to when you were still building your career. It was from a season that’s now made of random postcards, although no postcards were sent. The brain sure has its way of keeping the archives tidy.
Tunis is suspended in time — when none of us knew what the next few years would bring and how many horizons would make us realise just how beautiful life is despite and because of everything.
This necklace was created from that memory.
The angelite recalls blue skies that once carried our youth and our ambitions, hopes, and dreams when they were yet to be tested by reality.
Those turquoise teardrops and aquamarine crystals will likely remind you of the courtyards, mosaics, and sea-washed colours of Tunis.
Citrine, like in most of the pieces it is in, glows like the desert sun. I see it as the warmth of moments that remain untouched by time. It isn’t as harsh as the sun in the tropical climate that we are used to and for some reason, that brings comfort.
There are places on earth that take us away from what is broken on our own shores — systems, processes, and the seemingly never ending deluge of problems and glaring mistakes that try our patience.
Each gemstone rests upon sterling silver. It’s hidden but it’s there.
In my mind, all of these elements remind us of the many beginnings we have experienced, of roads taken and roads abandoned, and of people and places that are now part of our personal mythology.
